Miranda's dad surprises Miranda's family by bringing Alex, Julie, and Lisa and Gabriel. Alex then tells Julie that they should leave to go to a church work place. Julie wants to stay with Miranda's family though. Each week each person gets a bag of food from the government.

Alex Morales is left alone with his two little sisters worrying where his parents are. His dad went to Puerto Rico for a funeral and his mom was at work. He has no way to reach them and is worried. He goes to his church and finds a retreat he can send Bri (14 year old sister) to where she works on a farm. Alex is struggling about food and wondering where his parents are.

In the end, Miranda goes out to town to see what's going on. Half way there, there is a note flying around that says the town hall is open Friday's from 1-4. So, Miranda goes to the town hall and they're giving out BAGS of food. The man hands her around 12 huge bags of food to take home. Each week the town hall gives 4 bags of food go to each family. Miranda then thinks that they will get better.

Miranda's dad leaves for Las Vegas with his pregnant wife Lisa. Miranda is wondering why they had to cut down to two meals a day when they have a lot of food. Jonny (Miranda's little brother) is worrying about what if the moon smashes into the earth.

Miranda feels all alone since all her friends have been leaving her to move to different places. From now on, her and her family have to fast once a week so they don't run low on food. Miranda's dad has to cancel the trip where Miranda would go visit him and his wife Lisa in Springfield.

While Miranda is at Megan's house, Megan goes on and on about how she puts her trust in God and doesn't eat that much. It scares Miranda so she just leaves and goes home. While Miranda is at home, her mom says that they need to start cutting down on a meal and make it two meals a day. Miranda was shocked but went along with the plan.

Matt (Miranda's older brother) talks to Miranda and Jonny about how no one can predict the future. Miranda's mom tells Miranda she has to talk to her friends other then just her boyfriend Dan. Miranda then goes to Megan's house.

Miranda hates how the only person other then her family that she sees is Dan, her boyfriend. By the gas station there was a stand where people gave free bags of food to each address. Miranda waits there with Mrs. Nesbitt until she starts to think about Dan. So she leaves Mrs. Nesbitt to invite Dan to wait in line with them. Once Miranda goes home she gets lectured about how she shouldn't have got Dan to go in line.

Miranda starts to go swimming at the pond even though West Nile is going around. Jonny (Miranda's brother) goes to baseball camp and gets free food for two weeks. Miranda's school shut down therefore she doesn't go to school anymore. Soon Miranda will visit her dad in Springfield.

Miranda's mom is freaking out about the whole situation. She's very worried about food and thinking they will run out. Miranda's school is nearly running out of food so they served Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches. Miranda's school gets closed a month early due to not much food left. Miranda's mom sends Miranda's brother, Jonny to baseball camp so she won't have to feed him.

Everyone's scared about the meteor and during school, Miranda gets picked up by her mom. They rush to the supermarket with her brother and a moms friend and buy anything from the shelves to prepare for the worst.

It was the big night of the meteor hitting the moon and it shocked everyone. Once the meteor hits the moon, the moon enlarges. The tv no longer works the phone signals are down and everyone's running around scared for their life. At grocery stores, there's no longer any food because people are gonna stay in their homes for a long while. Everyone says it's the end of the world and they're all going to die.
