These books had a lot of promise, but the rules and artifacts set up here feel like I’m in a video game. Find this rock to save your people, but also die for the curse, and never consummate your marriage or the Goddess won’t help you. Keep secrets but don’t. I dunno. I know it’s a data dump for the sake of catching up the reader, but I’m not feeling the enchantment.

I pretty much hate Dristan and now we’re going to his court. His backstory is SO BAD. Like, so many plot holes. Going to put this one back on the shelf.

Caed is a manchild. I dislike his character so much.

Suuuuper helpful and easy to read. Lots of real world examples.

Ew ew. Too much blood. And graphic child abuse in the first three chapters? Makes my stomach turn.

Love this so much

This book makes aaaaabsolutely no sense. Vibes only. But it’s delightful, because of course, you as the reader knows exactly what’s going on even if there’s no rhyme or reason to the ridiculous plot.

Also, can we talk about how writers have to twist themselves into knots making the MMC purely dominant while also a feminist? 😂

This is the point in the series last time that I started losing interest. I don’t care about Manon and the witches. I get it…there’s parallel training between Aelin and her enemies, building tension for epic battles ahead. Blah blah. But I just don’t care about Manon and wyverns… like at all.

Should I go on?? This book is a lot of people arguing with each other. Being snappy with their dragons. Just lacks the fun factor of the first book.

Why so long??

The audiobook is wonderful. I haven’t read a ghost story since I was a kid and it’s bringing back those fun creepy feelings.

Better than expected!

Almost done but stuck. Getting tired of my Kate Daniel’s binge.

Kate just met Curran. Based on the chemistry, pretty sure he’s the lion on the front cover. The narrator of the audiobook nails the spirit of the character, I think. I know people love this series, so I thought I’d give it a try. It’s fun so far!

Can we get any more of a copycat of Crescent City?? Let’s break it down. Prologue with the different “Houses.” Young woman who is trained by her adopted father in combat but is a mixed race offspring of the Descended/Fea and a human/mortal. She’s starting an uprising against the Descended/Asteri…predicated on the mysterious disappearance of her mom/Danika.

BUT it seems like a fun story so ima keep going.

This book is all over the place…

This book has dragged. I’m at the 90% mark. Is the amazing payoff coming or will it fizzle?
