I loved the chapter where Will decides to walk to church despite the awkward annoyance it might cause Casaubon at him being there. You think his earnestness can override Casaubon’s jealously, but It turns out to be really awkward and disappointing for Will.

His descriptions of suburban lawns littered with crap and kitschy things is so strangely beautiful and surreal and hilarious.

Here is a part that made me laugh out loud upon reading “a demented wheelbarrow…”

“…a livid pastel wagon wheel swooning at a rustic angle, a demented wheelbarrow choked with stalked memories of flowers, a family of metal flamingoes, of ducks, of playful elves…”
