This is so weird.

I'm going to finish this one, but I don't understand the level of hype it got.

I really don't know if I like this book. Between the weekend "retreat" and the hints of sexual violence make me not want to finish it.

I love the language. Melville's control of language brings the story to life. But, like Tolkein, there seems to be a lot to get through. I've been reading this for months and to pick it up and read it is like pulling teeth or doing math homework. I certainly love to hate this tome. It will forever remain on my top 10 books regardless of ever finishing it.
