Follett is such a brilliant storyteller and so knowledgeable, he keeps me turning the pages. But he's such an idiot about how religious people actually think, and has sex on his mind so often, he makes me want to put the book down.

Is heroin addiction to really the same as craving a mouth watering Wendy's sandwich? Im not even a little persuaded by the silly threads of the evolution of brain chemistry fairytale woven through this otherwise very serious book.

This could be a better book without the just so stories explaining neuroscience.

Potent flattery for Christians for whom the influence of Christian faith on the unbelieving world is their principal concern. People who think this book gets it mostly right will probably fill the churches, like ridiculous clowns stuffing themselves into a tiny car. Absurd. I don't see how I can manage to finish it.

1/10 of the way in and I'm sick to death of this book .
