So far, I hate Tansy. She’s super rude and entitled.

I find Zoe rash and foolish in this book. Up until now, I’ve admired her she was not childish or stupid. Third book broke the streak.

I don't know why I am having such a hard time connecting with this novel. I cannot seem to get very far. I may try again in a few months.

“Doctors aren’t allowed to be humane to humans”. What a great, true quote.

I am really interested in this novel. Every Lisa Genova novel that I have read has been interesting and informative. I despise police officers though, they so often brutalize disenfranchised people that I find it nearly impossible to feel any sympathy for this character. He also has signs of racism, so we will see.

I began this book tonight. I am halfway through. It is utterly impossible to put down. I understand Rich but I hate him. I feel so sorry for Jacob and poor neglected Theo.

I imagine what bothers me most about Cody is that she is the poster child for abused children.

She demonstrates why abuse victims are victimized over and over again. They internalize keeping the secret and make it the priority over all else. They know how to keep secrets and never get that by doing so they are hurting themselves so much.

Try as I might, I cannot like Cody. She is manipulative and dishonest. I understand that she is troubled but her behavior is far too much to allow me to appreciate or like her.

I loved hearing the voice of Chance, in the first novel. We do not get as much of that, in this book.

So far, I find the mystery intriguing. I like Calista and Trent but Eudora is a little too meddlesome to like.

This book does nit have quite the dull sameness that have plagued some of Quick's most recent works.

Tortuously slow. I don't know that I am patient enough to see what the crime is of where this is going. She is building her characters, I can respect what she is doing but it is so slow.

Meredith, while as not as self involved as Josie, is far more mean spirited. Josie is self centered but not mean spirited.

Not so much for Meredith. This book really brought me down, it's depressing. I loved Emily Giffin's early books. Life is too short to waste it on bad books so I may be done with this author.

Giffin did an excellent job of writing a self centered, entitled, immature character. Josie is so self centered the book seems to want to make her a sympathetic character but I could not see it.

All of her efforts are to get everyone to do things in a way that is most beneficial for her and the author seems to want us to empathize with her position. I couldn't.

Painfully slow I am interested in these people. However, I don't like them at all and it feels like we are taking a long while to get to any real climatic event.

I really dislike Winnie she is horrible. considering that she is the illegitimate daughter of Sugar's father and she she ended up with everything that Sugar should have had, her self righteous attitude is too much to swallow. sugar was horrible when they were younger but she was younger Winnie has no excuse for her behavior as an adult.

I respect Sugar's spunk.

THis book reads as far more dated than it actually is, I would have thought it was written in the eighties. Also thus far the author is doing a great deal of telling and not much showing.

Jesse is too passive to be admirable. I keep putting this book down, too many people and so many of them are not at all likable, which I expect in a book like this.

Jackie is far too hard on her mother. She is deeply invested in seeing her father's point of view and has no sympathy for her mom. Jackie needs someone to judge her as harshly as she judges her mom.

Justine's loss of her dog is who own fault, it is hard to feel sympathy for her. She is supposed to be sympathetic but she is pretty self centered. Adele is horrible and abusive as she is remembered by Justine, however it does not make sense for Justine to find no fault in her own behaviors.
