I had a very low expectations for this book.
More than a few SW novels are a quick action-adventure, similar to the script of a single episode in an animated series.
This book is incredibly well written and is a great source of SW lore.

Stanislav is 60% done with The Long Mars (The Long Earth, #3)

While the first of the five book series was all about adventure, the second two are mainly focused on exploring the Long Earth Universe. Both the second and the third book put the Science into Sci-Fi imagining scenarios to ponder over some of the latest scientific theories and discoveries. Like jumping from Star Wars to Star Trek :)

Already I am impressed! I tried the first few chapters of a dozen new sci-fi novels lately. I was looking for one that grabs your attention rather than beg for it. This one is not hard to read but rather hard to put down. Again I understand why people praise Pratchett so much.

Revisiting a crime novel from my boyhood was nostalgically exciting though the book itself isn't much to tell about. Very little of Batman's character is explored as if the role was given to the protagonist after the book was written.
