Loving this story, which is no surprise, since this is one of my favorite authors. So fun to read a book that takes place in Chicago, my home city.

This book gets off to a slow start. For a murder mystery, it seems a little crazy for it to wait until you are 100 pages in for it to happen. I'll keep reading and see how it turns out.

Wow - I wanted to read this because I am trying to add more non-fiction to my reading. I keep reading because it is so interesting and well written. So much great information and real stories to draw you in.

finished the first of the three novellas in this book and Karen has done it again. The queen of faith-based Westerns has written another first-rate book, and the bonus this time is readers to enjoy three stories! The play on words with the strangers' names was great, I loved all the subtle nods to Dicken's story, and although the story is shorter than a full-length novel, it wasn't missing anything.

I started this book yesterday and have read over 2/3 in one day! I love the relationships and strong emphasis on faith. Kudos to Witemeyer for accurately portraying the racial tension and biases of that era.

I just got this beauty (my favorite color is purple) yesterday and when I couldn't sleep last night I was up reading. Got through about 1/3 of this already. The mystery started off from the very first scene and keeps getting better. I love the theological questions that Libby has. So far, I can't stop reading and can't wait to see how it all turns out.

A bit too much sex for my liking. Also, finding I'm more interested in the budding romance between some of the other characters than what is happening with the main story line.

I'm about halfway through and so far am enjoying this. I wasn't sure what I would think about it, since it is way outside my normal genres, but it is so engaging I can't wait to finish it.

So far, I'm not getting into the story at all, and as I read, I keep begging for my mind to get a break - no sentence seems to be shorter than 3-4 lines, some as long as half a page. It's like listening to someone talk for a few minutes without so much as taking a breath!

Taking me forever to read this because I'm not really into it. It feels like a cross between the slapstick of the Three Stooges and a slow burn. Might have to toss it across the room the next time I read about the "tingle in her stomach" again.

I've read the first two of the three books included in this - love the characters and the real sense of New Orleans that you get from these stories.

This book has my head spinning so far. No idea what side everyone is on, or if there is more than one side. Quite violent, too, but thankfully not overly graphic or gory.

Loving this! This is looking like it may end up being one of my favorite books of the year - certainly one of the best I've read since January.

A friend challenged me to read books that taught more about white privilege and to get a better understanding of the experiences of people of color in the United States. In order to understand why things are the way they are today, I think we need to look at how we got here. Since my daughter is adopted from China, I thought the Asian community would be a good place to start.

Finished the first of the two novels in this combo book in one night - I couldn't sleep! Took me about two hours to read the whole thing. A little to steamy for me, but easy enough to skip over those parts. The rest of it was entertaining and it touches on the victimization of women in Hollywood.

I read the next section/novella in the book and it is just as good at the first! I love solid historical fiction, especially when it isn't filled with profanity, sex and gore!
