I know I haven't finished the book yet, but I feel compelled to say that if you're feeling nihilistic and cynical about the state of things, this is something of a balm.

This book is much longer than it needs to be. It's possible the "cozy" genre isn't really my thing. At least, not when it's missing reasonable world-building, well-executed character motivations, and (just a little) dramatic tension. Just a 167 more ebook pages to go...
