"She felt that she could so much more depend upon the sincerity of those who sometimes looked or said a careless or a hasty thing, than of those whose presence of mind never varied, whose tongue never slipped."

Nerd alert, but I was browsing Libby by publisher and Thomas Nelson has a contemporary romance line?? I know romance keeps the entire industry afloat so it makes sense why they do, but I was just so surprised that it's not like obviously Christian-themed romance.

Unmask Alice: LSD, Satanic Panic, and the Imposter Behind the World's Most Notorious Diaries
"1994-95, Wenatchee, WA. In a town of 25,000 people, prosecutors charge 43 adults with 29,726 counts of ritual abuse. More than two dozen people are convicted." Yeah.... so this hometown environment explains a lot about my mom never being able to get over satanic panic fears of D&D, the Smurfs, playing records backwards, etc etc.

"Enumerating the gifts you've received creates a sense of abundance, the knowing that you already have what you need. Recognizing enoughness is a radical act in an economy that is always urging us to consume more."

Is there any essay or podcast about the JonBenet Ramsey case and how it sparked a true crime fascination for an entire generation of women when we were like 5 years old? I want to read about my origin story 🌚

Using Jew as a noun is fine, as an adjective you are entering murky waters, and as a verb you are announcing yourself to be a flaming racist. Lol reminds me of Josh Johnson "You blacked it!"

Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers
Alright I guess it's on me that I didn't expect a book whose theory is heavy metals poisoning creates serial killers to have hours of exposition about industrialization and mineral refineries. We got a solid 40 minutes of bridge building techniques, folks.
