One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This
"The state wants violence because in that playing field it maintains every advantage: from bigger guns, to total immunity, to the privilege of perpetual victimhood."

One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This
"...there is an indigenous population being colonized, but we should let this unpleasantness run its course so we can arrive at true justice in the form of land acknowledgements at every Tel Aviv poetry reading."

Is there any essay or podcast about the JonBenet Ramsey case and how it sparked a true crime fascination for an entire generation of women when we were like 5 years old? I want to read about my origin story 🌚

Monsters: A Fan's Dilemma
Using Jew as a noun is fine, as an adjective you are entering murky waters, and as a verb you are announcing yourself to be a flaming racist. Lol reminds me of Josh Johnson "You blacked it!"

Murderland: Crime and Bloodlust in the Time of Serial Killers
Alright I guess it's on me that I didn't expect a book whose theory is heavy metals poisoning creates serial killers to have hours of exposition about industrialization and mineral refineries. We got a solid 40 minutes of bridge building techniques, folks.

I asked Chatgpt for a niche book recommendation and it started making books up. When I called it on its BS, it was like "Yeah, I can't find any record that this books exists" 😭 too bad, I really wanted to read that book.

There is an author who I am not naming bc it's embarassing, and twice now the covers of his books have made me think "this seems exactly like the kind of book I want to read," when in fact, not 2 minutes into the introduction I discover that these books are so far in the opposite direction of what I want to read. Quite literally one of the last things I want to read.

Did you ever wonder if you could sync your libby tags to goodreads? Well you can. and now that the floodgates are open, I fear that my secret TBR will join my not-secret TBR and I will certainly drown.

Nobody's Mother: Artemis of the Ephesians in Antiquity and the New Testament
Up to this point the most important things about Artemis are: she was a super chaste virgin and never wanted men to touch her, she was a midwife who had the power to grant pain-free childbirth and to euthanize if needed (particularly related to birthing), and she was never depicted as a mother or wet nurse.

Christianity Rediscovered: An Epistle from the Masai
“A God of creation who exists in and with the things he brought into being. Creation is a key part of revelation… People are trapped in the terrible dilemma of a fatalistic world vision—empty of the notion of continuing creation and personal responsibility and opportunity. A missionary’s greatest contribution might very well be [to free people] from their idea of God.”

Christianity Rediscovered: An Epistle from the Masai
“Do not try to call them back to where they were, and do not try to call them where you are, as beautiful as that place might seem to you. You must have the courage to go with them to a place where neither you nor they have ever been before… To move away from the theology of salvation to the theoloy of creation may be the task of our time.”
