I am about half way through. An illuminating book!

Enjoying the read. What stands out so far: cadences!

The dark elements are considered too dark, sometimes, for children. However, Andersen sometimes subverted the folktale to go "beyond" traditional fairy tales to cultivate an audience of adults and children. The complexity of the tales, with a subtext of social satire, and Andersen's use of Romanticism, Classical Folklore, Gothic and Fantasy genres in his work makes it timeless. Must press on and read some more!

I am reading another book, so I will revisit this book later.

I'm now on page 222 of "Absalom's Daughters"

I am enjoying the read! The idea for my new poem, "The Talisman" came from this, my debut novel. I feel another book coming on! It's amazing what new things you discover, when re-reading your own published book! Am I my own sternest critic, maybe. "Shows some potential, must focus, and try a little harder" Overall, the book is fairly satisfactory.

I'm not in a reading phase at the moment because I'm writing!
