I mean I am less bored now

I am over the whole exposition/monologue/reveal where the FMC talks about how the MMC can't look her in the eye or doesn't talk to her and then you find out it is because the guy has liked her the entire time. Or maybe I just hate it when it is a trade-published book because it isn't always done well, like how I am only 5% in the book and I already know where this exposition/description is going.

I decided to read this one last so let's see what happens

I am on chapter 4 and I am confused. are Cole and Alister serial killers. why is Cole obsessed with Mara all of a sudden? Also, I can't tell if this is a romance or psychological thriller

I was interested in this when I first started the series but idk anymore. I mean the plotline is interesting I just don't know if I can champion a character like Phin anymore. The playboy types that sleep with anyone do not work for me anymore. Also, they are in high school and so I feel old
