Reading this for book club. Not the kind of book I normally read - not a of books that blend fantasy into the modern world that read as contemporary fiction. So far, it is very stereotypical of the "I inherited some big crazy house" stories. 1. An over-the-top relative 2. something happening at the funeral that is made to make the girl look "weird" despite being cliche. I'll try to push through.

Beautifully written, but extremely slow. Not saying it is bad slow, just if you aren't in the mood for a books where the first 30% of the book is mostly her just walking around 2 different cities interacting with everyday people with very little happening but living, this won't be the book for you. I enjoy that type of book when I am in the mood. I think plot-wise I would have preferred it as an artsy movie.

Omg chapter 4 is like reading a D&D manual explaining stats and game rules, boom boom boom. Had to switch to an easier crochet project while I listened to it😂

I saw too many good reviews, too many memes, too many adorable Princess Donut quotes to put off reading it any longer.
