After getting to page 375, I just had to put it down. I gave it a gallant effort, but I just couldn't relate to the satire. There were too many confusing characters and it just wasn't enjoyable at all to pick up any longer. I loved many of Dickens' books: Oliver, Barnaby, Tale, Christmas Carol, Hard Times, Copperfield, and Great Expectations. I am relieved. It's okay to put books down if you just can't stand them.

I am reading this book for a MA Class. I am on the "Origin of Species" chapters. It is quite different than anything I have ever read prior. I am getting the impression it is advanced reading where the reader is supposed to get the general idea of what Darwin wrote. The "Voyage of the Beagle" chapter was slightly more readable. It's an extremely detailed book; Early impressions: One has to "learn" how to read it.
