Uggghhh, another new narrator for this series and this one is NOT keeping my brain in the story.

I like it, but Clue-like is an absolutely incorrect descriptor.

Uh. Her ex is stalking her, assaulted her, and there was discussion of a restraining order. But the new boyfriend, who personally witnessed half of this!, accuses her of still being in love with him? And now we're making excuses for new boyfriend's feelings? Uggghhhh.

Noooooo. How could they not make an ability to roll with the French words a primary requirement for the new narrator? (The woman's name is not WREN-Marie, FFS.) Armand speaks English, but he's Francophone. The anglicized pronunciation of French words is fundamentally wrong for the characters, story, and setting.

"Privately, he christened his sheep Noodlehead."

I can't. Phaedra is almost saving it, but Ariadne is too over the top and TSTL.

I was really hoping for an Ariadne who saw Theseus as an asshat and a way out. This adoration is so tiring. "I felt like he was branding me." Bah.

Her lack of sufficient motivation for looking into this murder is irking me. She keeps talking about being a suspect, yet the only time the police have spoken to her was at the scene of the crime AND the detective is a competent one who doesn't jump to conclusions. She just comes off as paranoid thus far.

Didn't the ex-boyfriend buy her a new document case? Amazing how continuity issues can pull you out of a story if you're a nitpicky binge-reader like me.

I like Gildart Jackson, but for fuck's sake, use a narrator who can pronounce at least ONE Greek word correctly...it's distracting and frequently painful.

"The seahorses are at it again..."

All of the installments in this series are essentially the same book. Like a base under siege madlibs.

Sloooooowwwwww. And speeding up the playback isn't going to help.

Nooooo. Why would you switch to a reader who can't do a Welsh accent for shit? And this is the same darn reader who screwed up Mrs. Jeffries!

Ohmylord, now they're going through a friend's desk drawers AND their laptop! because they went out for the day?? WTF. This is unforgivable levels of intrusiveness.

One of those installments where the gossipy curiosity comes off more like stalking. I'd punch these people.

I'd forgotten how easily this lady jumps to ALL the conclusions!

Two hours in. I get it. She's penniless and alone and OWES. Unless this is actually a story focusing solely on loan sharks and misery, hurry it up already...

Hastings is such a dimwit. And sometimes a little gross.

I like Joan Hickson, but not as an audiobook narrator...

Oooo, Penelope Keith is narrating!

Arrrgghhhh continuity errors!! I hate how they pull you out of the story.
