Interesting insights to NYC and Harlem in 70’s but not really interesting story. Occasionally there is wonderful language like a fixed up brownstone looking like it wanted to “crab walk” to another block. But not my favorite

Interesting. It’s a textbook so be ready to pay $80 for the book. The concept of gradual abolition is heroic and depressing in today’s Trumpian world of overt racism and oppressive white Christian nationalism supported by a rigged SCOTUS.

How many generations will it take to overcome the MAGA cult. Four generations typically before the generation doesn’t remember the first. So we’re screwed for 75-100 years

Similar to other Japanese short stories. Commentary on loneliness, rule following, shame plus cats with mystical buildings. Almost childlike and moralistic. Definitely loneliness with a small touch of hope is a Japanese best seller format. Almost Johnathan Livingston Seagull meseta The Secret.

I loved E Jean Carroll before this book. And I love her even more. Shocking and hysterical. Enormous respect for her and the team that took on Trump.

I love the introductions by Emily Watson as much as her translations. The Odyssey and The Iliad translations are unique in their clarity and invaluable because of Watson’s scholarship and the fact that she sees them through the eyes of woman. Both are must reads.
