Slow moving. Again the prose is beautiful. I think I’m struggling as with all nonfiction that there is no plot to carry me from chapter to chapter. Once one chapter is done, I struggle to want to move on to the next.

So far, very beautifully written. It's a book that is best savored which means I don't pick it up as often as other books.

Noted running theme about “goodness” and never fitting in, the perpetual outcast and immigrant. The complexity of Korean and Japanese cultural interactions.
Noa feels tossed in Book 3. After spending so much time building this love child in Book 1 and 2 he is so quickly cast aside. His death felt so empty.

New characters are introduced but they all feel rushed. There is so little comment about Yumi, Risa and Sunja’s grandchildren. They don’t seem to exist.

Yoseb doesn’t want to bottle money from Hansu to pay for Noa’s education at Waseda. However Kim contributes money to the home whom Hansu employs. So at the end of the day don’t they get money from Hansu regardless?

Is Sunja going to run into Hans’s at the restaurant?
