Muir is 32% done with Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold (Stephen Fry's Great Mythology, #1)
Fry can’t see an alliterated semantic field go by without wading knee deep into it (again, I’m 100% sure this sounds a lot better than it reads.)

Slow going because I want to like the writing style so much (it works for Ode) but I think I’d prefer this as an audio book. I will persevere but I think perhaps I’d prefer something drier…

Ridiculous to say I’m almost done but the truth is I’m forcing myself to pace myself, I’ve read through pre-1977 to 2021 and it’s been so much fun… I am once again thankful to Tony Gilroy for snagging me as an adult (without an iota of nostalgia) (and well, maybe with one Riz Ahmed) as well as rekindling my love for this galaxy, primed with my newfound adult access. Huzzah.

Hmm this is far too boring a novel to complement one of my favourite Star Wars movies. The writing is so flat. Galen hasn’t seen his wife or baby for six months and this is how the scene goes down:

"She's beautiful," he said, inspecting her face. "Her eyes have changed color."

Lyra nodded. "They're sort of flecked."

"Stardust," Galen said. "That's what's in her eyes.”

Awful phrasing and no emotion…

Muir is starting Appointment with Death (Hercule Poirot, #19)
This could have been as melodramatic as Death on the Nile but the ending really let it down, so much so that I entirely forgot what happened even though I’ve read this before.
