I can’t decide whether I like this book or hate it. The actual plot is interesting. It’s just WHY does it have to be told in this way? I am a smidge over 50% in and STILL debating whether or not to throw in the towel. It’s exhausting.

Could Maas possibly use the words "smirk" and "sneer" any more? Who edited this?

Time and time again, my suspension of disbelief is ruined because Kestrel, alleged military strategy genius, is actually TERRIBLE at strategy and planning. Because omg. FAIL. ALL THE FAILS.

Uh, I like how in one sentence, R is telling F to not talk about stuff because the prisoners hear everything. But in the next few moments, spills everything about his inner court and what roles they play. Ffs.

OMG CAN PEOPLE PLEASE STOP SMIRKING?!? Ffs. I am on page 27 and it has been on every other page.

I really wish the author would stop calling all of Sarah's relations brothers or sisters when they are really in-laws. It is very confusing to keep track of who is actually related to each other.

I hope it gets better because the premise is utterly stupid.

I find Felicity to be an unbearable snob. Why does the man love her? He barely knows her and just because she saved his life doesn't mean she is great. Sheesh.

This is one gloriously sexy and violent book so far. Glorious.

I want to like this because the author is an Asian woman, but it really is so boring. And just mediocre. I may give it another few pages but I am likely not going to finish.

Are you seriously telling me there is both a George Sinclair (hero) and a George St Clair (hero's friend). DOES THE AUTHOR NOT REALIZE THAT IS EXACTLY THE SAME NAME?!? AND LIKELY ALSO PRONOUNCED THE SAME?! (Due to French and the English pronunciation of St John as Sin Jin.)
