Such an incredible story!

there are some great family dynamic discussions that really had me thinking. this book has reminded me how far we've come as women.

im happy that the pacing picked up however im starting to get insta-love vibes between a particular couple 😩

I don't like the writing style, it's very clunky. The characters don't seem to be dimensional at all. Very surface level. I hardly feel like I know the character and the storyline is just missing so many points. Now suddenly something happens to one of the characters that will change the trajectory of the story...I really like the premise of the story but I am considering DNFing.

I'm considering DNFing this story. One of the reasons is that Lili is very one dimensional. I hardly feel like I know her or what she thinks. The story is heartbreaking and I just feel like I'm just getting an info dump. I learned a lot from this story but I feel like the characters need more depth. The only thing I got so far is that Esti is courageous, Lili is learning to be braver and they have a strong friendship

Absolutely horrific. Learning that the French were the first Protestants in America seeking refuge from religious persecution and then being slaughtered by the Spaniards for their Protestant beliefs and for the territory is obscene and I'm just disgusted to say the least 💔

although it makes me so angry that the Blackshirts were aiding Mussolini and Hitler. It is good to see how there were Italian people (religious ones) who risked their lives to protect those at risk.

This story is heartbreaking 😞 hence why I have been reading this at a snails pace for so long.

this book is so difficult to read 💔 it's just one horrific thing after another. I don't feel much of a connection to the characters, however the storyline is heartbreaking 😭

I'm tired of the lack of communication & constant negativity, it's very frustrating 🥴 I don't mind depressing or sad literature but this has been seriously dragging and it's getting worse.

I really didn't think Ember should've been included as a POV and involved her with Wren 😒 I wish there was more Lydia POVs 🫤

I got up to 116 pages and I'm disappointed 😔 I was really intrigued by the story but I feel like all I've been reading a book are about renovations with a side of romance (I don't like insta-love).

What? It went from two people bumping into each other and all of a sudden they...no absolutely not. There were things that were annoying me about this story already and now I'm officially done.

And the fact that he then says "i can't take your..." like how condescending 😒
