This book is so hard to read sometimes. Like I know what is coming (somewhat) but the dread!! The dread!! Everything feels so idyllic and fun and carefree but we all know it'll end in great tragedy.

I already wish five times over that I had someone reading this with me so we could have discussions about it!! It's so good. I am amazed how good it is. Deep philosophy and slow slow sloooow burn romance and so many weird monsters and apocalypse moments. Ahhh!

This book is a great character dive; an excellent exploration of marginalized humans and this existence. It's also heartbreaking as fuck.

This book is trying way too hard to be a Monty python skit and it's far more your annoying great uncle telling you another lame story from his youth where nothing ever happened.

This book is reminding me too much of Ink Blood Sister Scribe and that makes it difficult to enjoy this book for what it is.

Okay, but like WHY?! It's never explained why Riven is a thing, why it's necessary to go there to "take down the spirits" why it's dangerous if you have more humans die and go there. If anything it seems completely no stakes? Spirits can't come back to earth so who cares?!? Why does the reporter think the MC is keeping people safe? Do nothing in Riven and and it wouldn't even matter!?! Ugh

This book should have been called cascade failure instead.

Okay. Only a third though this book. Loving the premise, kinda iffy on the execution.

The sheer amount of violence in this book is disturbing. It's all people on people as well. Makes you feel like humans can never escape their violent tendencies even if they are a diverged alien e race.

I dunno... This book has gotten pretty gross. She's 48 and he's 22 and then you multiple scenes like this: As soon as he kissed me, I forgot his age. Our minds started to blend again, an intimacy that made my desire for him flare like fire hitting oil.

Oh really. Urtho made the makaar? Why are there such glaring errors in this book

So much of this book just pisses me off.

This book is insanely readable for me. I read up to 56% in one sitting.

I was not ready for the amount of footnotes in this book. It's fun, but constantly having to click on my ereader is less fun. So it makes for slow progress.

Okay, I think I've finally caught up to about the point where I stopped reading 3 years ago. Time to discover what all the memes are about!
