Holy fuck, this book has punched me in the gut so hard. <3

I realise this has a bias but damn, I wasn't expecting to be quite so troubled by this

First time I've heard an audiobook narrator trying to hold back a laugh lololol

Definitely interesting, but sometimes a bit tedious and, my God, you can really tell that it's written by a very middle class British cis white man. For example; women saw lots of their children die, often died in childbirth, were the possessions of their husbands and could own nothing, but they could take pleasure in giving their husbands the cold shoulder so maybe they're no less happy than women are today?

I've put this one on pause because I'm not feeling the challenging writing style right now, but I'll probably come back to it soon

So far, the same level of light-hearted fun as The Spirit Thief.

I'm starting to conclude that I like Stiefvater's writing but I'm less keen on the stories themselves. I'll give this a bit more time.

Ok so this has grown on me lol. Only taken five attempts but I've now clicked with Pratchett

I like the concept well enough, but the writing is just way too... YA?... for me. I'll try for a bit longer.

I am not evangelical about the whole "show, don't tell" thing but... this book has told me a lot but showed me very little.

I'm not sure why I keep trying with Pratchett. I get the appeal but the humour really isn't my style

Two college students trying to have near-death experiences in the hope it will awaken superpowers in them, It's ridiculous but also incredible and I'm here for it hahaha

I'm enjoying this overall and the audiobook is pretty good, though there is only so much a narrator can do when the text is so repetitive at times.

A short story anthology, stories based in Cornwall. Most of these are in the Victorian Gothic style, which I'm not feeling right now. I'll come back to this later.

Whoa. Another incredible book with an unlikeable female lead. Definitely feeding my current hunger for dark fiction. I have no idea how this is going to end and I hope it lands well.

Sometimes it's just nice to revisit an old favourite.

So far, I'm fascinated by Chris McCandless. He's an interesting character study.

An uncomfortable but very good read so far. It's a shame that Carsten Jensen is (or at least seems to be) not well known in the English-speaking world.
