Amie Rocha is reading The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer
Read about 1/4 in. Putting it down. Probably won't pick it back up again. Informative read but just not that interested.

Amie Rocha is finished with The Pickwick Papers
I enjoy reading fiction that transports me to different times. It was entertaining. Since it was written as 'papers', it read more like a series of short stories.

Amazing. I love reading a book where I can live perceptibly in another world and culture. The characters in the novel compel the reader to have a first hand sense of what it means to be Afghanistan in this day and age and how much things have changed in the country since the 1920s. I couldn't put the book down.

It was more than I expected. I like reading history from different perspectives, like the people's history by Howard Zinn, the side of things you can't learn in a textbook. I learned a lot about our politics and the plight of the native Americans to preserve their identity. It inspires me to get involved and network with community organizers to be like the lupin lady to leave the world a little bit better.

Magical realism at its finest. The narrator tells his story through Billy Pilgrim who is a time traveler. My take away is that life is trivial and entertaining as it is unless life is war because that is devastating and horrific and unnatural.

Reading this book you cannot help but to be reminded of your inner child and tales and antics from your own child and to think how your own story would read.

Dahl is one of my heroes and helped to influence my own childhood. Matilda is a favorite and I could relate to being a voracious reader imagining I could read every book at the library and also to be willing to cause a little bit of trouble for just cause.
