I’m halfway through the second chapter and choosing not to finish. An F bomb and several instances of taking the Lord‘s name just made me feel uncomfortable. Besides, as much as I wanted to learn about the onset of the Korean war and the DC situation in that era, the entrance to this book was just not holding my attention.

If I’m going to read fiction, historical fiction is my favorite sub-genre. So, in looking for a historical fiction Christmas book and finding this one, imagine my surprise to find that this book is about a genealogical mystery! Genealogy + Christmas = one happy “Jenni”alogist!

I cannot get past the introduction, as it causes me to relive the rawness of my own traumatic experience. Perhaps I can start again another time, but for now my heart is too tender to continue.

I cannot put it down! The audiobook is delightful!

Just can’t get into it—I guess maybe I’m not in the mood? Maybe try again later?

Meh. Don’t love the writing style. But there are so few narratives on DNA genealogy, I am sticking with it out of curiosity for my field of interest.

Just can’t get into this one so I’m going to retire it.

I love Agatha Christie. She’s brilliant.

I must not be in the mood for this book right now, so I’m going to shelve it to read at a later date.

My favorite genre: historical biography in vignette format.

My first Anita Stansfield book. What a soap opera! Gah!

Read through chapter 4 and am going to set it down. I just don’t think I’m in the mood for it right now. I might return to it later.
