I've read a number of Marie Benedict's books: love some, some not so much! She begins on an interesting premise, and sometimes creates a totally believable story while other times the creation becomes totally not believable and irrelevant.

I read and LOVED the one Benedict wrote about Hedy Lamarr, but was not particularly thrilled about the last one I read, Carnegie's Maid. It seemed too fantastical to be believable, without, seemingly, much historical verification of facts. Of course the background facts about the era were good, but the particulars of the story were weak.
