It's hard to be afraid when both protagonists are so unsympathetic that you start rooting for the ghosts. The girl is pushy, stand-offish, an idiot and rotten from the inside out with misplaced pride, and the guy is a smothering pushover who needs to calm the fuck down while he launches her ass into the sun like she deserves. I hope they both die.

This is so fucking bad how realistic this book is lool. Want a book about our connected world going crazy over pandemic victims assumed to be Devil's pilgrims, the Democrat POTUS getting framed as the Antichrist by a fame hungry pastor, neo-nazis calling to arms just for the Republican candidate to put the fault on the walkers, plus snippets of toxic social medias at the beginning of every chapter? This is for you.

Took the 3 biggest books there were in the novelty section when it got announced that libraries were being closed. Fitting that I'm reading a realistic fiction turning around the impacts on the USA of a cross species virus jump during COVID-19.

Interesting. It took me until chapter 7 before I realized that there had been a subtle switch to the writing style. At first I thought it was in my head, but the scenes in the car definitely felt different. Then I googled it and saw that Madeleine Urban had not cowritten the series past the forth book. That's weird that I even noticed anything at all since English is not my first language. I'm kind of proud.

J'en suis au passage où il dit que le couple est et devrait être une continuité du complexe d'Oedipe. Ce gars-là s'écoute parler, sérieux. La seule raison qui fait que je lis ce livre c'est pour décortiquer les comportements abusifs et écrire dans les marges. J'en ai pour longtemps.
