So much info about our solar system. So much!

Space! The final frontier….

The first half of the book focused on the history of different popular long-standing board games. Now the latter half of the book is focusing on like what board games reveal to us about how the mind works, machine learning and how board games define our culture.

I’m learning so many fun facts about board games. I can’t wait to be even more obnoxious next time I play.

Mostly listening to this with my jaw agape as I learn all the ways the human body is mysterious, and at the same time, disgusting.

I now know a lot of random things about dead kings of England from circa 700 - 1500 CE. So, really applicable to life and current events, obviously.

Currently in the middle of the chapter on authenticity and wondering if I really know what this word actually means. 😂

What came first the chicken or the egg? Similarly, the question of this book is what came first…students’ reading problems or their lack of knowledge? Some of the ideas are interesting. Some of it is frustrating. I don’t know if there’s any real answers for schools, but it does make me want to start dumping background knowledge on my nieces.

A magical greenhouse, a sheltered librarian and a grumpy gardener. What a perfect mix!

We used this book as part of our professional learning experience for teacher leaders in our district. It's been good to listen to it and compare it to other leadership texts like Crucial Conversations and Leaders Eat Last. Even Gladwell's Tipping Point. Enjoying it a lot.

This is the cutest cozy fantasy and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

"I'm having so much fun listening to this. I wish I had a classroom to teach students to love nonfiction, like Foster loves nonfiction."

Amundsen is on the Antarctic continent pushing south toward the south pole. I didn't realize how much of a race it was for both Amundsen's expedition and Captain Scott's expedition.

There is just something about polar explorers and Norwegians at the turn of the century.

This would be a fascinating text to use in a writing class.

Omg, I am loving this. Everyone should have a librarian who handpicks their TBR pile.

Within 5 mins of listening to Bill Bryson, I was laughing, so I am a happy girl.

I've enjoyed listening to this but at the same time, I'm overwhelmed by the sheer amount of knowledge in this book.

I am going to have to track down his TV series too.

Ugh, I love this so much.

Working my way through this series of lectures on how to view and appreciate great movies and I am loving it.
