What came first the chicken or the egg? Similarly, the question of this book is what came first…students’ reading problems or their lack of knowledge? Some of the ideas are interesting. Some of it is frustrating. I don’t know if there’s any real answers for schools, but it does make me want to start dumping background knowledge on my nieces.

We used this book as part of our professional learning experience for teacher leaders in our district. It's been good to listen to it and compare it to other leadership texts like Crucial Conversations and Leaders Eat Last. Even Gladwell's Tipping Point. Enjoying it a lot.

Amundsen is on the Antarctic continent pushing south toward the south pole. I didn't realize how much of a race it was for both Amundsen's expedition and Captain Scott's expedition.

There is just something about polar explorers and Norwegians at the turn of the century.

This would be a fascinating text to use in a writing class.

Working my way through this series of lectures on how to view and appreciate great movies and I am loving it.

It’s fascinating to hear how frank he is about his addictions to drugs and alcohol and what he had to do to overcome them.

I recommend listening to a Scottish accent whenever you can.

Now that I'm reading Quiet, all I can think about is how relationship building works between extroverts and introverts.
