📚📚📚📚📚 I love this book! I don’t love crime-thriller type novels. But the humanity! As a parent, this book broke my heart. I hear there might be a movie/show in the works? 🤞🏻I would cast Denzel as Ike and @ethanhawke as Buddy Lee. Reminds me of Fern-gully

I hate this book so much. About every 100 pages there will be 5 pages of beautiful prose, but most of the time, it is a burden to slog through.

This book is flatter than a can of soda opened two days ago and left on the counter. The narrative is framed as an MFA student’s thesis. Is that why it is flat? Or is it just bad writing? Also, as the title suggests, there are some spicy scenes, but in the words of the author, they are “embarrassing, not electric.” Not a huge fan yet, but I never give up on a book.

I’m only half way through, but already I like this more than the movie. It just has so much more detail. I get that not everything can fit within the time constraints of the movie.

I’m not sure why people say this is a Christian book. Yes, she references Christianity, but also Judaism and Buddhism as well.
