Because when you're sleep-deprived from devouring a series that kept you up until within a half-hour of midnight (occasionally on the WRONG side of midnight) almost every night for a week, the best possible course of action is OBVIOUSLY to read a different book with a history of keeping you up reading WAY too late. What could go wrong?

After a scare from my Kindle (which was threatening to give up the ghost), I'm finally reading my ARC of this!

This is a class book, but I'm going to read the whole thing, so . . . might as well count it!

I am inordinately annoyed that Splintered Mind by W.R. Gingell is not on Goodreads even though it's out for Kickstarter backers.

Anyway, I started reading it last night. I'm one chapter in. It's very good so far.

Should I be reading other things? Technically yes, but I have been recently reminded of how good this book is and so nothing else will do.

Finally reading this after seeing it on SO MANY 2023 best of lists! Very excited!

Another Blind Date book, started on 2/14. Mixed feelings so far, but at this point, I'm far enough in that I'll probably end up finishing.

Rereading this with Dickens December!

Started this on October 18, just forgot to make note of it.

Should I be reading ARCs? Yes. But this felt like it would be a very October-ish read, and guess what? I WAS RIGHT.

What I should have read last night: the last quarter of Of Fire and Ash or one of the few lingering ARCs still waiting for me.
What I actually read: low-effort children's fantasy that I used to be obsessed with.
In my defense, my brain was tired, and I'm pretty sure Of Fire and Ash has a good bit more darkness to go through in the chapters I have left.

It's October 3. Seemed appropriate.

Technically started reading this on September 22.

There have been FAR too many "GILLIAN BRONTE ADAMS, HOW DARE YOU" moments in today's reading.

How the pumpernickel has Naia survived this long without getting smacked? (I assume the answer is that she's a princess, but still.)

Thoughts currently:
-Finnian is probably my favorite character.
-Rafi is apparently unkillable. Good for him.
-Nef needs to be punched. Hard.
-I'm very glad that Ceridwen is stepping up and becoming a leader instead of continuing to pull away.
-I don't think hashtags work on GR, but I'm supposed to put this here: #OfFireandAshReadAlong

I forgot to unsubscribe from the LOTR newsletter, so I guess I'm rereading this. Oh nooooooo . . .

Well, that all escalated very quickly.
Also, Ceridwen's dad is a jerk, and it's no wonder that Ceridwen herself is kind of a disaster.

Seven (eight?) chapters in. Does everyone in this book have a tragic backstory? (Not criticizing, just wondering.) Also, Ceridwen's father is officially The Worst.

Actually started this on Monday, September 4. I am being very normal about Salem, I swear.

Super excited to be joining in the read along for this! It just started today; hopefully I can keep up.

Between this, my Black and Deep Desires ARC, and the fact that I'm simultaneously consuming TWO separate daily versions of Dracula (which is starting to ramp up right now), I'm going to have a very Gothic few weeks. . . . Not that I'm complaining.

Goodreads says I've read this, but I have no memory of it whatsoever, so this will be fun.

This book is so storming good, and I really want to yell about "why didn't someone tell me it's so good? Why didn't y'all tell me I should read it?" But, of course, people have *been* telling me that it's good and I should read it for several years now, and I, like a goose, didn't listen. Don't be like me. Read this book now, not five years after everyone tells you about it.

I am rereading this instead of reading one of the three million new releases OR the three dozen library books I'm behind on exclusively because I want to study some writing techniques the author used that I want to try to reproduce. Not because I am deeply attached to Maia and his story and haven't been able to stop thinking about this book for the last YEAR.
