This is really good…

informative but boring so far.

This is a very weird book. Reminds me of Haruki Murakami's "After the Quake", some Kafka, or a little bit like a lot of Clarice Lispector's short stories. If those authors don't float your boat, then you're probably not likely to enjoy this one. If that's totally your jam (as it is mine), I completely recommend this.

I'm really enjoying this look into the work day the White House domestic staff despite an obvious bias toward Republican families. I bought this book quite a few years ago and never got around to reading it and I'm glad I started it.

Wow, these stories really stick with you for days.

Addictive and dark.

Just finished the first story, "The Housing Issue" and...damn! There's something almost Poe-esque about the way this short story was told. There's a sprinkling of subtle Russian social commentary, which I appreciated, but it's Dereschuk's ability to make the hairs on my neck stand up that is getting me.
