Sarah B. is 25% done with The Cult of Trump: A Leading Cult Expert Explains How the President Uses Mind Control
The author attributes human characteristics to the subject that are grossly incorrect. Cultish may be one way to describe those who are deluded by his sound bytes, but there is no humanity to his subject. The author, ironically, even elevates the subject’s status by the author’s own vulnerabilities to being in awe of such monsters.

Won’t finish it. His obsession with words and language and what he sees as their primary roles in our lives is simply his own quasi-intellectual pursuit, to say the least. Many people talk but say nothing. This book is just that in written form.

Fantastic book. He is an eloquent writer and brings his life, and the ills of a vile, unspeakable world into closer view.

Sarah B. is reading A Year with Rumi: Daily Readings
This is a must-read, especially in our current times where consumerism and superficiality, even in literature, are the mainstream. I don’t know how exactly close this translation of his works is to the original writings, but it is beautiful and captures some of Rumi’s most profound thoughts and his regard for those who came before him from all walks of life. Inspiring as part of daily devotional/reflective reading.

Sarah B. is on page 200 of 784 of Ever Yours: The Essential Letters
This is a wonderful book of letters, but not just any letters. Van Gogh reveals his brilliance and his empathic and vulnerable self through his writing as he did in his painting. In the first quarter of the book, a much clearer picture of Van Gogh emerges including his strength as someone who is able to move through struggles in his life looking for his identity in spite of aggressive family envy and projection.
