It’s such a short story but it drags on me like nothing else. I like a little bit of luscious purple prose but this is tedious.

At this point I believe I am not wrong for not understanding her because she is uselessly rambling. Still seems like she only has in her mind one type of woman and can’t reckon with the idea that there might be more than one.

Something is missing. Something is terribly wrong. Suddenly woman is this magical species that has not been described or named until now, yet I have lived among them my whole life and I have never observed this animal. I have observed a human gender complex and diverse, and one often just as orderly and logical, if not more so then the gender called man.

This book feels like epiphany after epiphany. Even as a lesbian and a white person it speaks true to very damaging aspects of our culture that are not often talked about. Realizing I never ever ever wanting something inside of me stirred up similar rage, similar alienation. But even the things I do not relate to, speak to me.

I hate reading this
