I'm eating my literary vegetables! It's fascinating and I'm learning a lot about the man and his times and discovering his vast contributions to our country and culture. That said -- it's not quite as enjoyable as losing myself in a spellbinding piece of fiction. Ah, life cannot be crème brulee 24/7. Franklin would have said that better.

I'm reading it as slow as I can -- the first half has been set primarily in Rome, some in Venice and some in South Carolina -- three places I'd love to be right now. I read/drool/pause and repeat...
