This book is putting me in a reading slump. Usually, I'd have moved on by now, but this one just refuses to pick up the pace.

What exactly have I been doing with my life?

I've been avoiding Stephen King my entire reading life because I assumed he was horror. He's not. I mean, there are dark things happening, but this isn't horror. It's a thriller. It's a character study. It's genuinely, annoyingly hard to put down.

I have thoughts. More to come.

43 hours down, 5 hours to go, and I'm loving every minute of it.

I quite like this series.

Rereading via audiobook this time. 10% in and it's already delivering. Heavy on the science, but the suspense and the jaw-drop moments make it impossible to put down. Or stop listening to, I suppose.

This book knows exactly when to twist the knife, and does it without being dramatic about it.

I read a lot of fantasy and sci-fi, but this feels just as immersive in a different way. Instead of invented worlds, it makes the lives of actual geeks feel epic, obsessive, and strangely magical.

Still adjusting to the idea that demons can be sweet, soft and great company. This world is far too calming for what the word “demon” usually promises.
