6 chapters in and I’ve already lost track of how many times the audiobook has had me literally cackling out loud. Joe Arden is swoony, hilarious GOLD.

The preview is promising, but I'll wait until I can get it for free.

Planning to switch to audiobook

There’s like 2 hours left, and everything is about to explode, leaving us on a cliffhanger for the next 2 months until the next one releases... think I’m going to put a hold on listening until I have the second book in hand... because I’m a weenie.

The catharsis of smashing glass. The desolation of losing everything you knew. The resentment for being forced to be a pillar of strength when you were much too young. An honest, gritty, angry, unapologetic voice. Really great writing, from the perspective of a child experiencing loss at multiple levels.

I'm having a really hard time wanting to finish this one. Started out strong, with the h being a foul-mouthed 22-year-old spit-fire that drove the H nuts and gave him a run for his money. But she quickly devolved to a clingy, weak, nieve 15-year old. Ugh.

Sweet jesus, this feels like the longest book ever. The story is so slooooooow!

I'm getting highly annoyed with all of the shouty capitols and overuse of exclamation points. The author needs to learn to use italics for emphasis instead.

I'm so close to DNF'ing this. I can't stand much more of Olivia being a crazy f-ing bitch-nugget for absolutely no reason. Please tell me why the shit Ethan is interested in her!?

Review in progress: Good writing it is not. This story is told from such a distant 3rd person POV that it dilutes any sense of character from the H/h. They're completely flat and practically 'voiceless'.

This book has a pack dynamic that I just haven't been able to get on-board with. Probably doesn't help that the story starts a bit further into the characters' storylines than I would have preferred. I wish we could have seen when Anna and Charlie first met, instead of what feels like 3 chapters later, when the fact that they're mates had already been established.

Review in progress: Though slow to start, a building sense of wonder, mystery, and enchantment permeates the pages of this story. Absolutely beautiful.
