Working on giving grace lol but flashback to many young women in my life who fucked up their lives searching for love through a baby. I feel like all the characters around Margo telling her not to do it, seeing young women realize over and over again that love isn’t enough to provide a life for a child. But my heart broke when she said how kindness would do so much for her in that moment.

It’s wild knowing how the first chapter began and getting this close to the end. I know I want more answers, want to finalize a reality where Dana is safe, get to the final time she ever gets transported to the past, to be at peace.

this book has a great visualizing quality, I can see the scenes unfolding in a 90s tim burton style. I’d love for some indie studio to get this and produce it with practical puppet effects.

Really wanting to take time to study the chapter “Concerning violence” more deeply, it’s the conclusions and definitions of decolonization that influenced movement after movement after this time.

At a little bit of a hiatus with this one, want to take note and deepen my understanding, but also seeing that this isn’t something that you’ll fully “get” the first time around. Everything I do get is so impactful though

I read some articles on how the original translation lost a lot of the story and lacked in a lot of ways
I would be interested in a new translation, I think modern Japanese literature translators do an incredible job of expressing the type of loneliness and grief that kinda got lost in the overly thesaurus like prose of this.

Nataukis family is uniquely fucked up like it’s not even the “factory”. her mom is a narcissist that is miserable to anyone that meets her, her sister is manipulative and a bully, and her dad is basically a ghost….WTF
