Guys, I've been waiting to get my hands on this long-anticipated Cristanne Miller header into Emily Dickinson's correspondence for a couple of years now (released earlier this year). I'm sure her co-editor Mitchell is a nice guy, but Miller just totally gets it. I'm going to ring into the new difficult year(s) by going off the deep end, Dickinson-style.

Many know how much I enjoy dystopian/horror/sci-fi, but I'm interested in how to talk about horror to my friends who might have had a bad experience with horror as a kid (yet have fomo about it). I did too, but I was that kid who got scared and wanted to know more of the "why?" behind it all. And watch more, since I was always dared to watch that stuff, and worked in a video store in the 80s, so yeah... that.

This is a book to be savored, especially for those who have a backyard full of birds. I originally intended for the copy I bought to be a gift for someone else, but I'm keeping it. Go me!

This is a pretty quick read (audiobook), and it's a lot of fun paying attention to the unreliable narrative in the story. The language used to nod to unreliability is absolutely stellar!

So far, I'm wondering who encouraged this author to read for the audiobook version. The exasperated tone is tiresome, and trying too hard to be "funny" when it isn't. When creative nonfiction goes this long (and read this whiny), it's evident that the editor missed the point of their assignment.

Not enjoying this as much I thought I would. The audiobook offers a great range of narration, but that is all that is keeping me going. Stories in collection, though some of the most recognizable in pop fiction, don't induce "out there screaming."

This book is soul sucking. I think I'm reading it so nobody else has to.
Bonus: If you love yelling at audiobooks in your car as if in argument with annoying family member, THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU.

This is rapidly turning into a hate-read (listen, since audiobooking this one). The topic could/should be interesting and relevant, and yet the leaps into memoir take this to places it really doesn't need to go. Am curious to see if this circles around to a solid point, but it doesn't seem to be going that way. Poss dnf.
