I'm about to re-read Lev Raphael's 6th Nick Hoffman Academic Mystery - Tropic of Murder. I've been asked to write the forward for it's re-release early next year. If anyone has thoughts about the book I'd love to hear them.

Just launched the book trailer teasers for Going to Beautiful. No one has time for long videos, so I'm releasing 5 ultra-short teasers every two weeks beginning Feb 15. The first one is called: Meet Jake Hardy.
If you miss any, you can catch up (including the Feb 1 kick-off) at anthonybidulka.com/revealing-the-goin...

I'm likely the only reader who thought Sweetness of Water was too long - too much of a good thing. Otherwise: awesome.

My blog on author book jacket photos has gotten some good discussions going on other blogs too. It's complicated. What should your photo say about you? Do readers care? I usually end up just standing there thinking good thoughts and sucking in this and that.

This is the first of a series. I've been having some good luck recently finding new series to follow, and I think this one will be another winner. It helps that it is set in the Dordogne region of France. With international travel still a dream, and a planned fall trip to our favourite hilltop village in the south of France (right next to the Dordogne) questionable, I am living vicariously through this book.

Sometimes it feels like I'll never find another mystery series to love. Sometimes, like now, I can't read fast enough. Kevin Hopkins Ottawa Detective, The Eugene Blake Trilogy, and Kevin Majors Sebastian Synard series have been making me a happy reader.

There are certain books by certain authors I like to have paper copies of and keep. John Grisham is one. Ian Hamilton. Gail Bowen, Louise Penny, Alexander McCall Smith. Sue Grafton. I have this dream that someday I'll go back and read them again. Hasn't happened yet. But maybe....

I'm currently reading 'Fortune', Ian Hamilton's third Uncle Chow Tung book.
After a slow start (too many names) I'm currently halfway through & thoroughly enjoying.

'Bonnie Jack', Ian's first stand alone novel will be released in June. Having done something similar myself with 'Set Free' it's interesting to me how readers receive/perceive a stand alone from a series author. How do you?

The thing about travelling is that when you get home so many magazines have piled up there's not time to read a book.

Reading Howard Odentz's Dead (A Lot) - usually not my genre for reading - but is a real fun read - zombies and poopy puppies - great writer.

At that horrifying point of reviewing a completed second draft of the next Saint book and finding the first few chapters are still in a big mess! Later ones are looking smooth, so I pulled back from the ledge and released my hair.
