Does anyone else have a quarantine reading list? A pile of worthy books they've never had the time to read? Mine includes Herodotus, Thucydides and Michel Houelebecq's Serotonin. I've owned the first two for more than a decade...

This is fascinating so far. I've learned more about developing world poverty from this book than I have in decades of reading newspapers.

Scott is 15% done with Elysium Fire (Prefect Dreyfus Emergency, #2)
I am Loving being back in Reynolds Revelation Space universe. Reynolds got me back into SF many years ago (so I may be a little biased) and so far this one is as good as some of his best.

Only 18 pages to go... and I'm getting sad! I don't want this one to finish! I don't want to have to wait for the next book in the series! Don't do this to me Ada!

Its great to be back with Ada Palmer again - she isn't afraid to mix big ideas into her narrative. So far the works of Thomas Hobbes and Homer have played prominent roles in the narrative, and the story is as engaging as her previous two novels.

This is getting better and better. Toner makes you work pretty hard at the beginning of his novel - it took me a good 40-50 pages to leave my confusion at the plethora of characters and weird worlds behind - but it appears to have been worth the effort.

I'm loving this. Adam Roberts really is a masterful storyteller, and I particularly love his central characters- this time around the protagonist is a grumpy, ex-alcoholic Russian in his 60s who is both a WW2 veteran and an ex SF writer. No Mary Sues here.

Hmmm. I'm not sure I'm liking where this book has gone. It feels as though it is getting bogged down with long explanations of the scientific literature and theory Lem has created in his world.

So far this is a fascinating look into the lives of octopuses. I had no idea that an octopus's brain is apparently distributed throughout its body, seemingly giving its tentacles minds of their own.
