The Martian was pretty good. Artemis was terrible. I liked the movie version of Project Hail Mary, so I figured I'd give the book a try.

Chapter 1.

Oh yeah, that's right. Andy Weir can only write one kind of protagonist.

Page 1 - Oh we're just going to get right into it huh? With such a thin .premise to begin with, that's actually kind of refreshing

Hell of an opening.

The ending is a dud, but the coda is far worse than expected.

A volcano explodes and it made me yawn.

I'm skimming the present-day chapters now. Incredibly boring and somehow less believable than the 2 million BC parts.

An award-winning book that devalues any award it received. I guess it could turn around in the second half, but I doubt it. Right now it's sitting in the category of "this author has some real issues".

Science invents a time machine and sends an absolute dumbass to study cavemen. The scenes in modern day aren't any better.

Highly annoyed already. Are any of these "classics" actually readable today? It's one dud after another.

Damn good prologue

About halfway through the book the only interesting thing happens. Off-screen, of course.

Only 2.5 books left? Not a good sign.

Going to read this and see if I want to continue the series. I've been burned too many times on "classic" sci-fi recently.
