I just started reading this, but seeing all of these negative reviews by mortified white women is hilarious.

Ok this book is so good so far and I don’t want to put it down BUT it drives me crazy when authors don’t use quotation marks for dialogue. Yes, there’s a literary purpose for this—narrative immersion & *authorial pretension* are the first two that pop into my mind (but not in that order).

This book is SOOO bad and the only reason I'm hellbent on finishing it is because I paid for it in my Book of the Month subscription. If I'd borrowed this from the library it would have been an immediate return back. Fingers crossed it gets better from here

So far, it's the best book I've ever read. I don't want to separate from it!
