Time moves so slowly in this hospital, it is like we are given a bonus day with every day. There is a line in Shakespeare, I forget which play, where a character is described as having "a face as long as Sunday". That's what it's like here. Every day is Sunday.

Through the lit windows she could see a row of people sitting at the narrow gold counter. Only one man was alone, his hair a dark, shiny black. Clusters of pink cherry blossoms hung from the paper screen above his head like thoughts. What an adventure she was on. Like a character in a film.

I've started seeing dead animals out of the corner of my eye. Some incidents of this are understandable, I think. (...) But it's the cow heads in trash cans and racoon's bodies hanging stiff from trees that I'm having a harder time explaining.

Zoe looked at Cleo, and just for a moment, she saw her sadness. Something about her eyes, the slight downturn of her mouth when she thought no one was watching. She looked like the loneliest girl in the world.

Co se tam sakra děje a mám to vyhodit z okna (což ani nemůžu, kniha není moje) nebo se tu tlustou bichli pokoušet dočítat...

Jako dost mě fascinuje, že tam rádi hrajou hru na pasáka; a že si to kluci tolik užívají?! What the heck. To to je sakra za hru.

Anotace zrádná, přitom skutek utek.
Dočetla jsem tak do padesáté strany a odkládám k ledu, kde jsem zřejmě nechala i mé náctileté já, které hltalo Kinga hodně.
Možná to bude i tou spoluprací se synem, nevím.

Je to čím dál divnější a divnější.
Nevím, proč jsem se do toho dobrovolně pustila, když to není tak dávno, co jsem zvládla Lesní lišky. Asi se mi z toho stává tým "nesnáším povídky".

Další, co nedočtu.
Prala jsem se tím celkem dlouho, ale ty přílišné pauzy mému čtení rozhodně neprospěly.
Přímá řeč vůbec nevyznačena, zmatenost, absurdita (ale něco jako "negativní absurdita" /třeba Neschopnost od Granta je v té "pozitivní absurditě"/).
Prostě týpek se zavře v hotelovém pokoji, ale to je nakonec u někoho doma (?! nevím), ale nemůžete tomu ani přijít na kloub, protože tam je milion různých odboček.

What the hell is that!
Vůbec nevím, o co tam jde. Na začátku se teda někdo zamknul, ok, ok, ale teď to je vlna absurdit a po přečtení komentářů podobného absurdního a wtf ražení nevím, jestli to vůbec dočítat.
Na druhou stranu třeba V melounovém cukru je taky absurdita a dost to mám ráda, tak nevím. /Ef a dilema, zda odložit další rozečtenou knihu./

Rád bych měl k dispozici složité hybridní emoce, něco na způsob německých složenin připomínající vlakové soupravy, třeba „štěstí, jež provází katastrofu“. Anebo: „zklamání, jež člověk pocítí, když se vyspí s vlastní představou“.

Emoce nelze vystihnout jedním slovem, anebo aspoň taková je moje zkušenost. Nevěřím ve „smutek“, „radost“ nebo „lítost“. Možná nejlepším důkazem o patriarchálním charakteru jazyka je to, že pocity neúnosně zjednodušuje.
