If I were Ahab and at 94% of a 700 page book about Moby Dick I still hadn’t seen the whale (AHEM!), I’d probably want to kill him too. Jk

Already so many cliches and cringey writing. This one might be painful

Still horrible!
Now we’ve got the narrator randomly making out with her former slave and then unbuttoning her blouse for reasons unexplained. Then a whole long nothingness about a kid eating a ring and pooping it out.

Still the worst book imaginable.

Wow so fucking horrible!! I’ve been stuck on 79% for probably 30 minutes. Since last check in we’ve glossed over spousal abuse, sudden infant death, and then randomly switched narrators and story lines with the most god awful cringey writing - utterly unreadable. I had high hopes for finishing this book this year (after an 8+ year slogfest), but I may shelve it again till 2024 after this latest garbage.

And now have to read about the husband’s non stop erection and giant penis - continues to be absolutely nightmarishly terrible

Still terrible and the fixation with the bath scene and constant references to that, plus the apparent pedophile father - who on earth likes this book?!
