Somewhat disjointed account of a very interesting event and region of the world. Using the wreck as central event, the author proceeds to review the history of a remote area of the Pacific, its history and issues around colonization. And then there's whaling... This is a titanic undertaking, and the author certainly covers a lot of ground, but his transitions can be confusing. Prepare to access other sources.
