Loving it! Feels like it's very much in conversation with Women Who Run With the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés.

Not my usual reading material but an absolutely fascinating piece of history in the context of romance books. The racism, xenophobia, and sexism certainly mark its author's position in her era.

I can certainly see why this is a foundational text of contemporary romance fiction. I can't say I recommend the book on its own, but it's a worthy companion piece to critical examination of romance and romantasy today.
