We are so far removed from what this book was advertised as, and I can feel it pushing me into a reading slump

Nowhere did it say that this is a WW1 book and I'm disappointed

This is more historical fiction than it is fantasy, but the story is interesting nonetheless

While it is a great way to keep me reading, I HATE that every chapter ends on a small cliffhanger

As much as I really want to know what happens in this story, the meandering reminds me of the classics centuries ago when authors used to be paid per word. Thinking there's 3 more books after, almost all of them 800 pages, doesn't make it easier to want to stick with it

I am not gonna lie, I am bored out of my mind. The concept is appealing, but the story is so contained it doesn't allow for much fun. We're with three fairly uninteresting characters, and nothing's really happening outside of moving from one place to the next

I do hate when you have to remove any dash of doubt and rational thinking to follow the story without going yeah no every minute
