ohmygod. Oh. My. GOD. I was lulled into a sense of security by pages 1-119, and then this book whipped the carpet out from under my feet.

This is SO good. I'm absolutely loving it.

Nope. I'm not gonna be finishing this one. It's just not working for me.

Is there a version of Aladdin's story other than Disney's where the princess sneaks out of the palace in disguise so she can go shopping undetected? I really want to know, because some of this feels like it was lifted directly from Disney, and I'd like to be wrong about that.

I found it! It was in my backpack all along!

I have no idea where this book is. Probably it fell out of my car and is lying in a parking lot somewhere. Some lucky bastard has it along with my bubble tea punch card. :-( I'll have to check it out from the library sometime to find out how it ends.

I'm re-reading the same copy I bought at a used book store as a child. I paid a dollar and change of my hard earned kid-money, and it hooked me on the whole series. Can't wait for the movie to come out.

This has one of the loveliest first paragraphs I've ever read.

"Courage of the heart is very rare. The stone has a power when it's there." Heh. That SECRET OF NIMH quote kept floating through my head through these last chapters. Loving this book so far. Great characters, fascinating world. This is getting me out of my reading slump.

"We are not always what we seem, and hardly ever what we dream." Good lord, this book is lovely.

Well, that's my heart, already broken.

This book is breaking my heart. I almost cried in public!

So, if your bad guy can magically make himself look like anyone, and you know this being a wily detective-type lady, telling the VITAL secret code to anyone who shows up and demands it of you would be the opposite of smart. Just saying.

There's this thing I really, really want the author to do, but I don't think she will, but I hope she does, but I don't think she will. Gah!

I couldn't get momentum on this before I had to return it. I'll have to try again another time.

OK, but Absinthe is NOT "vile stuff." It is tasty and licorice-y and awesome.

So far, I'm not loving this as much as I expected to. I might have waited too long to read it and let my expectations get the better of me. Or maybe Cinderella is just not a fairy tale I like, so the source material is less than ideal for me.

Uh oh. I think I know where this is going.

Just had to look up madras shorts. It's not the first fashion tidbit that's gone right over my head either.

I enjoyed PICTURE THE DEAD, so I'm excited to give another of Adele Griffin's books a read.

I want a wyverary now.

So far, this book is everything I ever wanted to read and more.

I'm reading this one with The Other Lamm because we both <3 The One and Only Fowl.

I have the precious, at last.
