Renamed. I spent a lot of time debating over the title of this, cause I really like "Snug Ship" as a title, and I also tend to want to never telegraph what a book's about. This one, I think, gives a lot more away. But, heck, telling readers what a book's about is one of the functions of a title.

Snug Ship's a near-future book - "a year or two ahead" kind of thing, and it's always kind of interesting/problematic to use very current terminology, social frictions, etc. Gaming is a hot button area, and I'm kinda glad the main surge of GG is past, since the story would be not quite whole if I didn't address such attitudes in some way. True virtual also really requires you to look at physical identity.

It's been a while since I've done a book with chapter headings. They started out just listing the stages of an MMO, but I can't resist slipping the odd sly reference in there.

"Harry Potter rip-off dating sim, in other words."

Slow, steady progress on this one. I'm just having fun having ridiculous conversations with Dio, really.

Dio (a major character in this book) is one of my favourite characters of all time.

The punctuation in this book is going to annoy so many people...

Goodreads is sending me reminders that I'm behind on this year's reading challenge. I have, quite literally, not read any books for a while. That's a side-effect of writing, but also being rather 'meh' about the audiobook I was halfway through...

The whole range of women: mothers, flirts and scolds.

Women have to be given the task of raising the kid, but then they must be deemed incompetent because they are womanly and overprotective.

They seriously have search parties out for "a man with a white beard".

You need to have a woman in the party to have someone to complain and have no sense of humour or fun.

Sharp-tongued women don't get to choose whether or not they need male protectors.

Bad people are dirty and smelly, with few social graces.

Women are nags and scolds.

Coquettish girls who lead boys into trouble get lectures.

Chapter 1 has been divided between Polgara being a cook, and Garion's 3 little friends. Two boys and the minxish little girl who bosses them around and gets them into trouble.

We start off with a rather dull history of gods prologue, and features women either getting to be wives or exceptional unlike all other women.

I remember liking this series quite a bit, but I'm having a lot of trouble listening to it.
