Goodreads needs to add a progress category that says "currently rereading." I read the Castle a long time ago in college and this is a reread. People have commented to me, correctly, that it can be a bit of a slog watching the character K endlessly push a boulder up the hill only to see it roll back down again. But we all know there's more involved here, yes?

Personaly rewarding. I recognise the importance of coming to grips with Kant if one wants to call oneself a scholar of philosophy, even in my amateur status. So far, I've read the Critique of Pure Reason, the Prolegomena , and the essay, "What Is the Enlightenment?". Now I'm beginning to understand the relationship between Kant's epistemology and his theory of ethics.

I'm up to chapter 21. When I read straight through a book, I don't retain a lot of it, becoming easily distracted. I rectify by first quickly skimming through the book to introduce to plot and characters and then going back through two or three times, adding more detail. IpI retain a lot more and that the book actually leaves an impression. Not that this is hard to do in this case., the book is delightful!
