Finishing because I am so close. The disappointment only growing. Not laughing out loud at this journey; it’s more like enduring to the end.

The blurb about the book was better written. I think I’d like to read more from that person, please. Finishing because it is not the worst thing I’ve read and hoping to see the reason so many rated it so high. Currently best described as background babble.

A diverse group of women find their commonality in books and service. A perfect setting, interesting town dynamic with undercurrents of equality, the necessity of education, and complexity of relationships. I can’t put it down!

Gripping! In one sitting I'm nearly half-way. Stories like this make so much more grateful for a bed to sleep in, clothes to wear, and freedom. I'm truly blessed beyond measure! My heart breaks for Lina and her family.

Delightful! As I read each letter I appreciate the gift of reading more and more. Each life is touched by reading in different ways. If only there weren't the occasional "colorful" word, I'd insist my stubborn 7th graders read it. How could they resist its charms? Certainly they would look at time to read as the pleasure that it is instead of some task I've created for their torture!

I'm fighting the desire to spend every last dollar I have on an enormous amount of food storage...

I'm enjoying the journey. I don't mind the seemingly slow pace as I am comparing the book to the movie as I go. I'm perfectly happy for Brendon Fraizer to linger when the plot seems to drag. A book full of people who love books has my attention!

I am feeling sad for the Lacks family. It's hard for me to imagine anyone would survive so many challenges. It really demonstrates the power of education and money.

Already hooked! This book speaks to the family historian in me. I am so glad Skloot was compelled to write about Henrietta. I am anxious to learn about her.

Rereading this for fun and to compare to Bloodroot. It's nice to revisit characters you love and miss.

Interested but only seeking resolution of the story. Okay, I get it, he's wrongfully accused. Am I meant to feel incarcerated? A fourth of the way but feeling trapped in endless retelling of the problem. Perhaps if legal proceedings lit my fire...apparently they don't.

Oh Rue! I was holding it together, even through the song...but the bread broke my heart and the tears have come...

Flight delayed in Austin...glad to relax with a good book.
